EFCC arrests 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Uyo

Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested eleven individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The group, consisting of nine males and two females, was apprehended along Ikpa Road in a fleet of cars.

The arrest followed credible intelligence regarding their alleged fraudulent online activities, extravagant lifestyles, and acts of spraying naira notes at public events within the Uyo metropolis.

The vehicles seized from the suspects include a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (Registration No.: ABC 553 LD Abuja), a Toyota Camry LE (Registration No.: KKN 48 AE Akwa Ibom), two Honda Accord cars (Registration Nos.: LSR 754 AQ Lagos and LSR 475 FN Lagos), a Toyota saloon (Registration No.: RBC 1898J Abuja), and a Lexus 300 saloon car (Registration No.: JJJ 423 JK Lagos). Additionally, the operatives recovered fifteen smartphones and ten bundles of N200 notes.

The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigations.
