EFCC arrests 30 suspected internet fraudsters in Abia, five in Kano

Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 30 individuals suspected of internet fraud in Abia State. The arrests took place on Thursday, May 29, 2025, during a coordinated sting operation in the Ariam and Ubakala areas.

The intelligence-led operation resulted in the recovery of four cars, an iPad, three laptops, a sound system, forty-two mobile phones, and an external hard drive. According to the EFCC, the suspects will face charges in court once investigations are concluded.

In a related development, the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate arrested five suspected cybercriminals on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The arrests were made at Farm Centre in Kano following credible intelligence about their alleged involvement in internet fraud and associated financial crimes. Mobile phones belonging to the suspects were recovered during the operation.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court upon the completion of ongoing investigations.
