EFCC arrests 39 for suspected internet fraud in Benin City

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the apprehension of 39 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Benin City. Operatives from the Benin Zonal Command conducted the arrests on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at various locations within the city.

The arrests were made based on actionable intelligence regarding the alleged involvement of the suspects in computer-related fraudulent activities. Among the items seized during the operation are eight high-end vehicles, including three Mercedes-Benz GLK, one Mercedes-Benz C300 4 Matic, two Lexus ES350, and Toyota Venza and Toyota Camry cars. Additionally, laptops and mobile phones were also confiscated from the suspects.

Following their apprehension, the suspects will undergo thorough investigation procedures. Once investigations are concluded, they will be formally charged in court to face prosecution in accordance with the law.
