EFCC arrests 50 suspected internet fraudsters in Kwara

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has effected the arrest of 48 students from Kwara State University (KWASU) alongside two additional individuals for their alleged involvement in internet fraud activities.

This operation, conducted on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, followed a comprehensive surveillance effort and the accumulation of actionable intelligence regarding their suspected illicit activities.

The apprehension of these individuals took place at various locations identified as their hideouts. Subsequent searches led to the seizure of significant evidence, including nine high-end vehicles, twenty-four laptops, and a variety of mobile communication devices.

As part of due process, the suspects are undergoing investigative procedures, with plans underway for their formal arraignment in court. The EFCC remains committed to upholding the rule of law and combating cybercrime through diligent enforcement actions and cooperation with relevant stakeholders.
