EFCC debunks viral claim of massive cash and drug seizure at El-rufai’s son’s residence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has categorically denied claims circulating online about the discovery of $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and ₦1 trillion worth of drugs at the Kaduna residence of a son of Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State.

In an official statement released on Thursday, the EFCC described the allegations as entirely false, calling on members of the public to disregard the reports. The Commission emphasized that such fabricated stories undermine its credibility and the trust it has built in its fight against corruption.

“This narrative is not only misleading but also a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the Commission and individuals linked to the falsehood. We advise the public to verify information before sharing or accepting it as true,” the statement read.

The EFCC reiterated its dedication to upholding transparency and accountability in its operations. It also warned against the dangers of disseminating unverified information, noting that such acts could mislead the public and disrupt the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes and corruption.

The Commission further urged citizens to rely on official communication channels for updates on its activities, reassuring them of its commitment to justice and integrity in addressing financial malfeasance in Nigeria.
