The Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun investigating the vessel “Bravo Alero,” which was intercepted on suspicion of involvement in oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
The vessel, seized by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) FORMOSSO in Brass, Bayelsa State, was found carrying 200 liters of products believed to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The vessel was officially handed over to the EFCC by the Navy for further investigation and potential prosecution. Commander M.A. Gaga, representing the Commanding Officer of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO, Captain Ifeanyichukwu Charles Mabeokwu, expressed confidence that the EFCC would conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate legal action.

He also reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to collaborating with the EFCC in combating illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.
Chief Superintendent of the EFCC, Shittu Babatunde, received the vessel on behalf of the Commission and assured the Navy of a prompt and professional investigation into the matter. The EFCC’s efforts are part of ongoing measures to address illegal oil activities and enforce the law in the region.
