EFCC nabs six alleged internet fraudsters in Abuja

In a significant operation carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a total of six individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud have been apprehended in the areas of Bwari and Dutse within the Abuja region. This decisive move took place on August 28, 2023, subsequent to the reception of credible intelligence regarding their alleged involvement in cybercriminal activities.

The suspects have been identified as Odey John Paul, aged 25; Greg Ajima Odey, aged 23; Julius Okpanachi, aged 21; Ugbede Opaluwa, aged 25; Okpanachi Emmanuel, aged 25; and Mohammed Abba, aged 26. These individuals are believed to have been partaking in a range of fraudulent schemes within the digital sphere.

The EFCC’s operation yielded valuable results, as the agency managed to seize substantial evidence that underscores the suspects’ involvement in cybercrime. Among the confiscated items are two Toyota Camry vehicles and one Mercedes Benz C300 car, signifying the material gains amassed through their alleged illicit activities. Additionally, a total of twelve mobile phones and three laptops were seized, which are suspected to have played a role in facilitating their online fraud endeavors.
