In a decisive move against cybercrime, the dedicated operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have successfully apprehended six individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud. This operation unfolded along the Calabar-Itu road, situated within the confines of Uyo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.
The six individuals in custody, now facing allegations of involvement in cybercrime, are identified as follows: Udenze Benjamin, Godwin Atike, Emmanuel Francis, Adebe Oluwademilade, Anietie Brownson, and Sabastin Obioma. Their apprehension was the result of a meticulously planned and executed early morning sting operation, which took place on Thursday, October 5, 2023. This operation was prompted by actionable intelligence that strongly connected these individuals to suspected internet-related criminal activities.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized several crucial pieces of evidence from the suspects, including mobile phones and laptops. These items are expected to serve as vital pieces of evidence in the upcoming legal proceedings against them.
