EFCC, NIS to strengthen collaboration

Comptroller U. Waziri, the head of the Nigeria Immigration Service’s Edo State Command, has expressed his commitment to assisting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) within the state. This announcement was made on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, during his visit to the Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC, accompanied by senior officers from the Immigration Service.

During this visit, the Controller elucidated that the purpose of their presence was to establish a deeper connection with the Command and further solidify the existing partnership between the two entities. He emphasized, “As the new Controller, I assumed leadership only a few months ago, and I believed it was essential for both my team and me to pay a visit to your esteemed office, with the aim of enhancing the collaborative efforts between NIS and the EFCC.”

Responding to this, Zonal Commander ACE 1 Kanu Idagu conveyed his appreciation to the Controller and his team for their visit. Idagu underscored that the EFCC has enjoyed a longstanding history of cooperation and backing from the Nigeria Immigration Service since its inception. He acknowledged the increasing complexity of criminal activities and stressed the necessity of seamless collaboration to counter these challenges effectively. “Our reliance on credible intelligence concerning suspected criminals is of paramount importance to our Commission. Hence, we actively seek continuous support and cooperation, particularly in the realm of sourcing reliable intelligence,” he emphasized.
