The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reiterated its commitment to addressing pension fraud across Nigeria. This assurance was made by Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE 1 Oshodi Johnson, the Uyo Zonal Director, during a recent courtesy visit by the Executives of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, to the Commission’s Uyo Zonal Command.
Oshodi emphasized the EFCC’s dedication to protecting senior citizens who have served the nation, promising to invoke all necessary laws to identify and prosecute those responsible for pension fraud. “We are here for you,” he stated, pledging swift action in response to any complaints of pension scams or fraud.
Speaking on behalf of the pensioners, the State Secretary of the Union, Obong Cosmos M. Essien, welcomed Oshodi to Uyo and praised the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat pension-related fraud. He expressed the Union’s readiness to collaborate with the Commission, acknowledging its crucial role in maintaining national integrity.
Obong Ekpeyong Daniel Ekpo, Chairman of the Union, urged the Uyo Command staff to remain steadfast in addressing economic and financial crimes, noting that there is a reward for hard work.
