The Nigeria House of Representatives extends its heartfelt felicitations to Muslim faithful nationwide and beyond, as we mark the auspicious occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, heralding the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued by the House Spokesman and Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Representative Akin Rotimi Jr., Eid-el-Fitr is acknowledged as one of the pivotal festivals on the Islamic Lunar Calendar, signifying a time of profound gratitude to Almighty Allah (SWT), spiritual dedication, benevolence, and renewal for each adherent.
Representative Rotimi Jr. emphasized, “This occasion prompts contemplation upon its symbolism and the enduring teachings of Ramadan. As we observe Eid-el-Fitr this year, let us seize this opportunity to fortify the ethos of generosity, unity, and positivity, notwithstanding our national challenges.”
In his goodwill message to Muslim faithful on Eid-el-Fitr, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Honourable Abbas Tajudeen PhD, advocates for continuous prayers for Nigeria beyond Ramadan, underscoring that a tranquil and flourishing nation equally requires supplications to uphold its blessings.
“We express gratitude to Allah (SWT) for granting us the privilege to witness the Holy Month of Ramadan in peace. May He accept all our acts of worship. As we rejoice during Eid-el-Fitr, I implore Nigerians, especially Muslims, to fervently pray for the nation and its leaders. Let us also maintain unity as a people,” remarked the Speaker.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Honourable Benjamin Okezie Kalu, urges Nigerians to maintain faith. In his message, Kalu congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful culmination of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan and the subsequent Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
“I urge Nigerians to utilize this occasion to foster national cohesion and persist in placing trust in the leadership of the country, as the nation is on the cusp of achieving the greatness envisioned by its citizens,” stated Kalu.
