The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has praised the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) for its commitment to delivering impactful projects aligned with the President’s vision.
His commendation came during an inspection of the Maiduguri Emergency Power Project (MEPP) on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The Minister was joined on the visit by NNPC Ltd.’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, and the Executive Vice President for Gas, Power, and New Energy, Olalekan Ogunleye.
The MEPP, a 50MW Integrated Power Project, was commissioned on March 2, 2023. Its 32MW Simple Cycle phase is already operational, providing critical electricity to Maiduguri and surrounding areas. The remaining 18MW Combined Cycle phase is under development and scheduled to commence operations by 2025.
Rt. Hon. Ekpo commended NNPC Ltd. for its efficient execution of the project, emphasizing its importance in addressing power challenges in the region and driving economic growth.
