FCT minister presents staff of office to newly appointed chiefs

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, officially presented the Staff of Office to newly appointed graded chiefs of the four chiefdoms in the FCT.

The ceremony, held in a vibrant display of local culture, saw the installation of HRH Joseph Danfulani Narai as the Sa’Karuyi of Karu, HRH Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III as the Esu of Kwali, HRH Abubakar Sani Pai as the Sarkin Pai, and HRH Yakubu Ndatsu as the Etsu of Yaba.

In a statement Director of Press in Office of The Minister Anthony Ogunleye said the congratulated the chiefs and emphasized their critical role in maintaining peace and security within their domains. He urged them to effectively communicate government policies and programs to their people, noting, “You are the closest to the grassroots and play a pivotal role in conveying accurate messages.”

The Minister also highlighted the importance of traditional rulers in governance, pledging to support them in their duties. He acknowledged the contributions of the FCT Minister of State and Area Council Chairmen in filling the vacant traditional stools, aligning the appointments with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, FCT Minister of State, commended the initiative, while Senator David JimKuta and Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara pledged legislative support. Lawrence Bitrus Garki, Mandate Secretary of the FCT Area Council Secretariat, noted the vacancies had lasted 13 months following the previous chiefs’ demise. The event concluded with a call for the chiefs to lead with wisdom and integrity.
