The FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) and NEAR Foundation brought joy to approximately 150 displaced individuals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of the Sallah festivities. Each person received 4kg of meat, distributed across various camps.
In a statement signed by Head Public Affairs Nkechi Isa said FEMD Acting Director General Mrs. Florence Dawon Wenegieme highlighted the initiative’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda. She praised NEAR Foundation’s contributions and urged other organizations to follow their lead. “FEMD has been collaborating with NEAR Foundation for five years. They have done so much for vulnerable people, IDPs, to make them feel part of the FCT and to give them hope,” she stated.
Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, lauded NEAR Foundation for its consistent support during Eid-El-Adha each year. Project Manager of NEAR Foundation, Abdul Malik Mamman Bulakos, emphasized the importance of the partnership with FEMD in identifying displaced individuals in the FCT. He mentioned that the Foundation has slaughtered 1,200 cows and distributed 50,000 packets of meat to the less privileged nationwide.
Beneficiaries Halita Joseph and Yahaya Hassan expressed their gratitude, noting the positive impact on their Sallah celebrations. Joseph, residing at Yimutu Camp, hoped for an expanded scope to reach more people, while Hassan was delighted that his family could now celebrate the festivities.
