The Federal Government has arraigned the President of the Borno State Youths Association (BOSYA), Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on terrorism-related charges following his recent arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Kaigama was brought before Justice Salim Ibrahim on Wednesday, where the charges were formally read to him.
The defendant, who described himself as the youth association’s president, had, during an interview on Channels Television last week, admitted holding discussions with Boko Haram members over alleged ransom payments for kidnapped victims.
Security sources said investigators have obtained what they described as “rock-solid” evidence linking Kaigama to the alleged extortion of families of kidnap victims.
Following the arraignment, Justice Ibrahim adjourned the case until September 25, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
The court also ordered that Kaigama remain in the custody of the Department of State Services pending the hearing of the case.
The prosecution is expected to present its evidence when the trial begins, as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to combat terrorism financing, kidnapping and other security-related offences across the country.
