In a heartfelt response to the plight of those affected by the tragic collapse of the Juma’at Mosque in Zaria, Kaduna, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) distributed essential relief materials to approximately 100 beneficiaries, including victims of the mosque collapse and individuals grappling with various undisclosed hardships.

During a poignant ceremony at the Zazzau Emirate Council, the Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Habib, symbolically handed over the relief supplies to the Emir of Zaria, Ambassador Ahmed Bamali, in the presence of other dignitaries and government authorities. Alhaji Abbani Garki, the Zonal Coordinator of NEMA NWZ, represented the Director General at the event and expressed heartfelt condolences to the affected individuals and their families. He emphasized the importance of using the relief materials judiciously to alleviate their current challenges.

In response, Emir HRH Ambassador Bamali expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that many individuals were struggling to secure even basic necessities. He praised the relief efforts as a beacon of hope for those facing financial difficulties, urging NEMA to extend their support to others grappling with severe economic challenges in these trying times for the nation. The Emir highlighted the broader impact of such assistance, suggesting that it could contribute to mitigating the prevailing insecurity by addressing underlying socio-economic issues that sometimes lead to criminal activities.

Emir Bamali further commended the generosity of NEMA and its collaborators, recognizing that their efforts would play a role in reducing frustration and, consequently, curb the potential for criminal activities. He used the opportunity to call on individuals and leaders with the means to be generous and provide support to those struggling to meet their basic needs.

The relief items distributed to beneficiaries for direct distribution included 100 bags each of Rice, Beans, and Maize (10kg), 50 cartons of Spaghetti, 10 bags of salt (20kg), 20 kegs of vegetable oil (20 litres), 10 cartons of Seasoning, and 100 pieces each of blankets, wax prints, guinea brocade, plastic buckets, cups, and plates. Additional items included 100 pieces of men, women, and children’s clothing, 100 cartons of detergent, 50 cartons of toilet soap, 100 pieces each of foam mattresses, bath towels, and mosquito nets. The relief package was completed with 100 bundles of roofing sheets, 100 bags of cement, and 20 packets of zinc nails.
