In the wake of a drone misfire incident in Tudun Biri village, Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed the Federal Government’s plans to rebuild the affected community. The misfire, originating from drones belonging to the Nigerian military, caused substantial damage to the village.
According to Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of The Vice President Stanley Nkwocha, Vice President Shettima, who visited victims of the incident at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna, conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to initiate the Pullako Initiative in Kaduna State. The comprehensive initiative encompasses the construction of houses, clinics, schools, veterinary clinics, empowerment initiatives, and the provision of solar energy to Tudun Biri, as a form of compensation for the destruction incurred.
Addressing leaders and stakeholders during a meeting, VP Shettima highlighted the significance of the Pullako Initiative, emphasizing its non-kinetic approach to addressing challenges in the North West region. The initiative is set to commence next month, with Tudun Biri being the first beneficiary.
In addition to expressing President Tinubu’s concern over the tragic incident, Vice President Shettima underscored the gravity of losing even a single life, quoting the late Dele Giwa: “One life taken in cold blood is as gruesome as millions lost in a pogrom.”

The Vice President assured the affected community that the federal government stands in solidarity with them. An ongoing investigation has been directed by President Tinubu to prevent a recurrence, with expectations of a prompt report submission.
Commending religious leaders and community elders for their restraint amid attempts to politicize the incident, VP Shettima acknowledged their role in maintaining decorum and maturity. Dr. Imam Tukur and Sheikh Al-Misri were specifically thanked for their efforts.
During the hospital visit, Chief Medical Director Dr. Shuaibu Musa briefed Vice President Shettima on the health condition of victims. Of the 71 individuals with varying degrees of injuries, some were referred to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna. The Vice President, accompanied by dignitaries including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the state Governor, APC National Chairman, Minister of Defence, and other officials, interacted with victims and directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ensure they receive adequate relief materials.
