FRSC Corps Marshal commends FMC Abuja for prompt action, urges proactive emergency response

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has applauded the management of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jabi, Abuja, for taking decisive action against staff accused of neglecting a crash victim rescued within Abuja.

In a statement Corps Public Education Officer Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters, Abuja Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide said highlighting the critical importance of prompt and effective medical care in reducing crash fatalities, Mohammed urged all healthcare providers to adopt a more proactive approach to emergency response. He condemned the recurrent refusal by hospitals to accept crash victims rescued by FRSC operatives, stressing that the National Road Traffic Regulations (2024) explicitly prohibit such rejections and prescribe penalties for any form of negligence or misconduct in handling crash victims.

The Corps Marshal reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to collaborating with healthcare providers and stakeholders to improve road safety outcomes. “By working together, we can reduce crash fatalities to the barest minimum and enhance emergency response,” he stated.

He also commended the courageous Nigerian who single-handedly rescued the crash victim, calling on all citizens to embrace such patriotism and support efforts to foster a culture of safety, discipline, and professionalism.
