Idris Okuneye, widely known by his social media alias Bobrisky, was arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday while attempting to cross the Seme border into the Republic of Benin.
The controversial internet personality, who has been a subject of significant public attention, was intercepted by immigration officers in what officials describe as a routine border security operation.
The NIS, in an official statement released by its Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, confirmed the arrest. The statement reads: “In keeping with its commitment to securing the nation’s borders, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju, otherwise known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country.”
Although the exact details of why Bobrisky was attempting to leave the country remain unclear, Udo indicated that Bobrisky is a person of interest due to “recent issues of public concern.” These concerns, while not elaborated upon, may pertain to controversies surrounding Bobrisky’s public persona, which has been a subject of both admiration and criticism in Nigeria’s conservative society.

The NIS assured the public of its professionalism in handling the situation, stating: “The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the country’s borders.”
