Hunters collaborate with Nigerian Army to combat criminal activity in Adamawa

In a concerted effort to bolster the Nigerian Army’s relentless pursuit of peace and security across the nation, the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Services (NHFSS) in Adamawa state have pledged their support to the troops of the 23 Brigade.

In an official statement Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, HQ 23 Brigade Lieutenant, Adebayo Samuel Adewumi said this commitment was affirmed on February 22, 2024, during a courtesy visit by Mr. Aminu Hammanjoda Furo, the Commander of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Services Adamawa State Chapter, to the Brigade Commander at the Headquarters of the 23 Brigade, Gibson Jalo Cantonment in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

Mr. Aminu Furo articulated that the primary objective of the Hunters and Forest Security Service is to uphold peace and security, particularly in remote communities where the presence of conventional security forces may be limited. He expressed the organization’s readiness to furnish the troops of the 23 Brigade with timely security intelligence crucial for swift responses to eliminate criminal elements exploiting forests as hideouts for nefarious activities.

In response, Brigadier General Paul Kefas Zawaya, the Commander of the 23 Brigade, lauded the efforts of the hunters and assured them of the brigade’s unwavering support. He underscored the brigade’s commitment to fostering collaboration with various stakeholders, be they individuals, groups, or organizations, to fulfill the mandate of maintaining a peaceful society.

Furthermore, Brigadier General Zawaya commended the proactive stance of the Executive Governor of Adamawa state, His Excellency Rt Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in engaging hunters to complement the efforts of security agencies in combating criminal activities within the state. He urged members of the organization to uphold principles of neutrality, fairness, and justice, emphasizing the critical importance of sharing timely information with security agencies to curb the activities of criminals.

The visit concluded with a group photograph featuring members of the organization alongside military officials, symbolizing the solidarity between the Nigerian Army and local stakeholders in the quest for enhanced security.
