The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, along with officials from Defence Headquarters, visited the widow of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoheed Lagbaja, Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, at her residence in Abuja.
During the visit, the IGP eulogized Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, commending his commitment and dedication to Nigeria’s security. He noted that the late COAS was a devoted leader who spent his career protecting the nation, emphasizing the profound impact of his work in counterinsurgency and anti-terrorism efforts. The IGP acknowledged that Gen. Lagbaja’s passing is a significant loss to Nigeria, leaving a void in the nation’s security architecture.
Accompanying the IGP were Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of State for Defence Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa, other service chiefs, and senior officials from Defence Headquarters.
On behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, IGP Egbetokun extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Armed Forces, the Lagbaja family, and friends, praying for strength and peace for all affected.
