IGP orders redeployment of police commissioners for Rivers, Delta, and FCT

In a bid to enhance the efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, has ordered the immediate redeployment of Commissioners of Police for Rivers State, Delta State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This move is part of a broader reorganization aimed at improving security and policing across the country.

In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said under the new directives, CP Olatunji Disu, previously heading the Rivers State Command, has been redeployed as the new Commissioner of Police for the FCT. CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, former CP for Delta State, has been appointed the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, while CP Peter Opara, who was in charge of the FCT, takes over as the new CP for Delta State.

In addition, the Inspector-General, with the approval of the Police Service Commission, has announced the deployment of four more Commissioners of Police to head State Commands in Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom. These appointments include CP Danladi Nda (Abia State), CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale (Lagos State), CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya (Ebonyi State), and CP Festus Eribo (Akwa-Ibom State).

The redeployment aligns with the IGP’s vision to reposition the Police Force and maximize available human resources for effective policing. IGP Egbetokun has charged the newly appointed CPs to focus on combating insecurity, adopting innovative approaches to address local security challenges, and uphold professionalism in their respective commands. He further urged the officers to support ongoing police reforms aimed at advancing the force and fostering national growth.

This reorganization underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Police to strengthening security measures across the country.
