IGP sympathizes with Borno over flood, assures support for rescue efforts

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has expressed his sympathy to the Government and people of Borno State following the devastating flood that struck the state on Monday, September 9, 2024. The disaster has resulted in the tragic loss of lives and property, and displaced many residents.

In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said IGP Egbetokun conveyed his deep concern over the incident and extended his condolences to families who have lost loved ones, acknowledging the difficulty of such a loss. He reassured the community of the Police Force’s commitment to deploying human and material resources to assist in rescue operations and provide comprehensive support to restore normalcy in the state.

The IGP also reiterated directives to the Borno State Commissioner of Police and the AIG in charge of Zone 15, Maiduguri, to utilize their resources in collaboration with the government and relevant agencies to stabilize the affected areas within the state.
