Operatives of the IGP Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering (IGP-STFPIB) have achieved a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against oil theft and illegal bunkering.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in a coordinated operation with the Department of Operations, Rivers State Command, on 12th September 2024, the task force uncovered a storage facility in Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, used for processing illegally acquired crude oil.

He added that the operation led to the arrest of four suspects: Emmanuel Nwachi, 58; Adamu Bala, 35; Nura Musa, 22; and Bashir Abubakar, 28. Authorities seized 40,000 litres of petroleum products stored in 67 white storage tanks and dismantled the site along with the equipment used for the illegal activities.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reiterated the Force’s commitment to combating economic sabotage and holding perpetrators accountable. He emphasized that the Force will continue its relentless efforts to tackle all forms of crime, criminality, and corruption, especially those undermining the nation’s economic resources.
