The Edo State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured its preparedness to conduct the upcoming governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.
Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Dr. Anugbum Onuoha made the announcement during a one-day stakeholders’ meeting held at the commission’s headquarters in Benin City, the Edo State capital. Dr. Onuoha revealed that INEC has successfully completed nine out of thirteen directives essential for ensuring a smooth electoral process, with the remaining tasks on track for completion.
The stakeholders’ meeting brought together representatives from political parties, religious leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, and civil society groups, all of whom were briefed on the commission’s preparations for the election. Dr. Onuoha emphasized INEC’s commitment to delivering a seamless and credible election.
