The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to commence on Monday, May 11, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the Commission said the exercise will run until Friday, July 10, 2026.
INEC recalled that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to enable the clean-up of the voter register following its publication for claims and objections by registrants.
According to the Commission, the final phase provides an opportunity for eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration periods, to enrol in the voter register.
The Commission also advised already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or update their personal information to utilise its online portal or visit INEC offices at the state and local government levels nationwide.
INEC further disclosed that the voter register will be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026, in line with statutory requirements. The exercise is intended to allow citizens to raise claims and objections to enhance the accuracy and credibility of the register.
Reassuring the public of its preparedness, the Commission said all necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure a seamless process, urging eligible citizens to take advantage of the exercise as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system.
