 Information Minister urges governors’ backing for President Tinubu’s agenda

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has appealed to state governors to lend their support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s comprehensive 8-point agenda. He emphasized that this agenda is designed to elevate Nigeria’s standing and reputation on the global stage. Minister Idris made these remarks during a courtesy visit by Mohammed Umar Bago, the Executive Governor of Niger State, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

The Minister highlighted that the President has entrusted the new Ministers with the task of promoting and enlightening the Nigerian populace about this agenda. He acknowledged the prevailing challenges faced by Nigerians due to recent policies and economic hardships. Nevertheless, he assured that the President envisions these hardships as a transitional phase that will ultimately pave the way for a brighter future.

To mitigate the impact of these challenges, the Minister disclosed that the federal government has distributed various forms of relief, including a variety of grains, alongside targeted financial interventions to the states. He commended the states for their dedicated efforts in effectively disseminating these palliative materials and expressed optimism that this cooperation would persist. He extended his gratitude to the governor for the visit and for aligning with the President’s vision.

Governor Mohammed Bago, in his response, conveyed that he led a prominent delegation from Niger State to the Ministry to congratulate the Minister on his appointment. Additionally, he wished to extend appreciation to the President for selecting a highly skilled professional to represent Nigeria. Governor Bago encouraged the Minister to validate the trust that the people of Niger State have placed in him and to actively contribute to propagating their vision and mission. Notably, the Governor highlighted that the vast land area of the state positions it as having the potential to contribute significantly to global food security.

Governor Bago assured the nation that the Minister’s performance would exceed all expectations. The visiting delegation included members of the Niger State Executive Council and representatives from the state within the National Assembly.
