KACRAN hails NEDC over water projects, inclusive leadership in North East

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has commended the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its proactive response and sustained commitment to improving the welfare of pastoralist communities across the North East.

In a statement issued on Thursday, KACRAN National President, Hon. Khalil Moh’d Bello, expressed appreciation to the Commission for the installation of solar-powered boreholes in Dangel Lantaiwa Ward of Tarmuwa Local Government Area, Yobe State, and Siddikiyo Jauro Gambo Ribadu Ward in Funakaye Local Government Area, Gombe State.

According to Bello, the projects have provided critical relief to thousands of pastoralists and their livestock by addressing the persistent challenge of water scarcity in major pastoralist settlements.

He described the NEDC as a model of responsive governance, noting that the Commission has demonstrated uncommon dedication to alleviating hardship and improving social services beyond conventional expectations.

Bello disclosed that KACRAN had recently advocated for greater inclusion of livestock development in the NEDC’s 2026 policy framework to ensure that pastoralist communities benefit equitably from development interventions in the region.

He welcomed the Commission’s positive response to the appeal, describing it as evidence of strong and receptive leadership. He also praised the NEDC’s consistency in implementing projects that promote peace, unity and stability across the North East.

According to him, the collaboration between the NEDC, North East governors, local government chairmen, security agencies and traditional institutions has played a significant role in stabilising the region.

“The North East is no longer defined solely by devastation, but increasingly by reconstruction and rehabilitation,” Bello said.

As beneficiaries of the Commission’s people-centred initiatives, KACRAN appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the timely release of adequate funds to the NEDC to enable it to sustain and expand its interventions in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The association also urged the newly established development commissions in the North West and North Central regions to adopt the NEDC’s inclusive and consultative development approach to promote peace and sustainable growth nationwide.

KACRAN further expressed confidence in the leadership of the NEDC Managing Director, Alhaji Mohammed Alkali, and the Director of Administration and Finance, Dr. Garba Iliya, noting that their stewardship has reinforced public trust and demonstrated the Commission’s capacity to deliver lasting peace and development in the North East.
