Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, will commence a three-week medical leave on Monday, 18th August 2025, to attend to personal health matters.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, said the decision underscores the governor’s commitment to prioritising his well-being in order to continue delivering effective governance. Governor Radda expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Katsina State for their understanding, prayers, and unwavering support during this period.
“I want to thank everyone for their kind words and ongoing support,” he said. “Taking the necessary steps to prioritise my health is essential so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state. I look forward to returning to my duties as soon as I complete my medical check-up.”
To ensure continuity in governance, the deputy governor, Malam Faruk Lawal, HCIB (Sarkin Fulanin Jobe), has been designated to serve as Acting Governor. He will oversee the state’s affairs, ensuring that all programmes, projects, and initiatives continue without disruption. Governor Radda expressed confidence in the deputy governor’s ability to steer the administration with dedication and competence during his absence.
The statement reaffirmed that the state’s development priorities, particularly under the “Building Your Future” agenda championed by Governor Radda, will remain on course. His leadership has been instrumental in driving progress across key sectors, and the administration anticipates his return in good health to continue advancing the state’s goals.
The Katsina State Government assured residents that governance will remain stable, responsive, and focused on delivering on campaign promises throughout the governor’s medical leave.
