Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar emphasizes promotion to master warrant officer ranks will be on merit

Promotion to the Master Warrant Officer rank will be solely based on merit, as confirmed by Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH).

He made this announcement while addressing candidates at the ongoing Master Warrant Officers promotion board held at the 3 Division small arms range in Miango, Jebu Bassa.

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar emphasized that only physically fit individuals prepared to shoulder the responsibilities associated with this esteemed rank would be considered for promotion.

Lieutenant Colonel Istifanus Gaji Takwa, Acting Deputy Director Public Relations of 3 Division Nigerian Army, reported that the GOC addressed over one thousand, five hundred warrant officers participating in the promotion board exercise. The GOC assured them that their comfort and safety during the exercise were of paramount importance, aligning with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja’s commitment to effective administration.

He urged the participants to maintain discipline, exhibit a high level of professionalism, and remain resilient to succeed during the promotion board.

Major General Abdussalam Abubakar expressed gratitude to the COAS for providing the necessary resources for the promotion board and commended the board members for their safe conduct of the exercise thus far. He urged them to uphold fairness, be firm, and work diligently to fulfill their mandate. He also pledged continuous improvement and close monitoring to ensure a zero-casualty promotion board exercise in 2023.

As part of the event, a tour of the camp was conducted to assess the facilities.
