In a momentous triumph against terrorism, the dedicated forces of Sector 3, operating under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), effectively neutralized six terrorists in a bold counter-ambush operation in Binduldul, Borno State, Nigeria.
In an official statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Military Public Information Officer in N’djamena, Chad, the operation, conducted on October 20, 2023, underscores the unwavering commitment of the MNJTF to eradicating terrorist remnants within its operational areas.
During this operation, our troops successfully recovered a substantial cache of arms, including 2 PKT guns, 5 AK-47 rifles, 3 AK-47 magazines, and 239 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. This seizure dealt a significant blow to the terrorist network and has substantially disrupted their activities in the region.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi reported that two brave soldiers sustained injuries during the operation but are currently in stable condition and are receiving the necessary medical care. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families, and we wish them a speedy and complete recovery.
In a related development on October 17, 2023, a 23-year-old suspect, Bulama Bukar, voluntarily surrendered to troops in Gubio, Borno State. Bukar claimed to be a Commander of Boko Haram and was located at Camp Tafkin Chadi in Gilima village, Abadam Local Government. His surrender was facilitated by the efforts of the Borno State government.
Upon his surrender, Bulama Bukar handed over one AK-47 rifle, 5 magazines, 44 rounds of 7.62 millimeter special ammunition, and a motorcycle, among other items. This act of surrender, along with the recovery of this cache of arms, is expected to serve as a motivation for his colleagues to also lay down their arms, contributing to a more secure region.
Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the Force Commander, commends the bravery and dedication of the troops in the successful execution of these operations, emphasizing that the MNJTF remains steadfast in its commitment to working closely with local authorities and the international community to restore peace and security in the Lake Chad Basin region.
