More trouble as NIS places Yahaya Bello on a watchlist

The situation surrounding former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has taken a serious turn as the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has escalated its response by placing him on a watch list. Allegations of economic and financial crimes totaling a staggering N80.2 billion have further compounded the gravity of the situation, leaving Bello with limited avenues for resolution.

Following his resistance to arrest on April 17th and subsequent failure to appear for arraignment on April 18th, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officially declared Bello wanted. Subsequently, the NIS has bolstered efforts by formally placing him on their watch list.

An official communication, endorsed by Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (Suspect Index) ACI DS Umar, outlines the charges Bello faces, including Conspiracy, Breach of Trust, and Money Laundering before the Federal High Court Abuja. Dated April 30, 3024, the notice mandates immediate apprehension and referral to the Director of Investigation should Bello be detected at any entry or exit point.
