NAF airstrikes destroy terrorist camps in Southern Tumbuns, Mandara mountains

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its air campaign against terrorist elements in the North-East, carrying out precision strikes on 19 May 2026 in Bukar Meram, located in the Southern Tumbuns, and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains.

In a statement Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the operation, executed by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, was informed by credible intelligence and corroborated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The strikes reportedly destroyed terrorist logistics hubs, structures, and assembly areas concealed within the enclaves, while also neutralising several insurgents and disrupting planned attacks.

According to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Air Force remains firmly committed to sustained joint and coordinated operations with sister services and partner forces to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace nationwide.

He stressed that intelligence-driven air operations will continue to be employed to locate and destroy terrorist hideouts, logistics chains, and operational bases wherever they are found.
