The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has strengthened civil–military relations with the commissioning of a block of four duplex classrooms at Gwagwarwa Community in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The project, executed under the NAF Special Intervention Quick Impact Project and commissioned on January 29, 2026, underscores the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to support community development through the provision of critical social infrastructure, particularly in grassroots education.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CAS, represented by the Chief of Civil–Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, said the initiative was designed to promote early educational development by providing a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils. He noted that quality education remains a vital tool in combating illiteracy and poverty, adding that the project reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s people-centred approach to national security.

Air Vice Marshal Gabkwet commended the project facilitator, retired Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Usman, for his dedication and professionalism, describing the project as a testament to his commitment to education and community development. He said the new classrooms would significantly improve teaching and learning conditions in the host school.
In his remarks, the project facilitator, Air Vice Marshal S. K. Usman (Rtd), said the Quick Impact Project provides the NAF with an avenue to give back to society and contribute to national development beyond its core military mandate. He reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, mutual trust, and cooperation with host communities, noting that such initiatives help bridge the gap between the Armed Forces and civil society.
He urged the Gwagwarwa community and school authorities to take ownership of the facility through proper utilisation and maintenance to ensure its sustainability and long-term benefit to future generations.
