The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening defence cooperation with the Czech Republic to boost national security and regional stability.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, gave the assurance on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, while receiving the Czech Republic’s Junior Deputy Minister of Defence, Radka Konderlová, and her delegation at NAF Headquarters, Abuja.
He described the visit as a reflection of the long-standing friendship between both nations and highlighted NAF’s transformation into a more agile force engaged in sustained operations against terrorism and piracy.
In her remarks, Deputy Minister Konderlová pledged her country’s readiness to broaden cooperation with Nigeria, describing air defence as central to national security. She noted that the partnership would also foster technology transfer, capacity-building, industrial growth, and human capital development.
Both parties identified key areas of collaboration, including logistics support for the NAF’s L-39ZA fleet, overhaul and acquisition of Mi-series helicopters, training for technicians, and advancements in aerospace engineering, avionics, and unmanned systems.
NAF also expressed interest in cybersecurity, radar systems, counter-drone solutions, and space technology in partnership with leading Czech defence firms.
