The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its air strikes on terrorist hideouts in the Tumbuns area near Lake Chad as part of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK). These targeted strikes, conducted northwest of Arina Woje in the Tumbuns on March 24, were prompted by actionable intelligence indicating the presence of terrorist hideouts in the area.
According to a statement by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, intelligence also confirmed increased terrorist activity around clusters of structures concealed under trees near the location. This necessitated the decisive action to target the area.
Following the strikes, a post-strike Battle Damage Assessment revealed significant neutralization of terrorists and destruction of their hideouts. This has effectively degraded their capacity to mount attacks on surface forces. Furthermore, these operations have diminished the capabilities of terrorist elements in the region, thereby enhancing the security of civilians residing near Arina Woje in Borno State.
