NAF strikes IPOB/ESN hideouts in Anambra and Imo

In a strategic move aimed at disrupting the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the Nigerian Air Force, operating under Operation UDO KA II, executed precision air strikes on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

In an official statement, Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said these strikes targeted concealed hideouts of the secessionist groups in Mother Valley Orsumughu, Anambra State, and Aku Ihube, Imo State.

Gabkwet said acting on credible intelligence, the security forces launched the operation to thwart the nefarious plans of IPOB/ESN militants, who were reportedly preparing to unleash violence and disrupt civic activities in Anambra State and other Southeastern states. These operations were conducted in collaboration with ground troops and other security agencies.

He said in Mother Valley Orsumughu, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, the air strikes hit their mark, effectively neutralizing the terrorists and their concealed weapons and ammunition. The strikes left a trail of destruction and sent fleeing terrorists scrambling for cover. The success of this operation was evident from the feedback received and the visible impact on the ground.

Simultaneously, coordinated air strikes were carried out at the IPOB/ESN hideout in Aku Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. These strikes were a response to detailed intelligence indicating that the militants were converging at this location for a potential rendezvous. The strikes on the hideout were executed with precision and achieved a high degree of success.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, emphasized the commitment of the NAF and other security agencies to ensuring the safety and freedom of all Nigerians, regardless of their place of residence. He called on all citizens to support the security agencies in their efforts to defeat criminal elements that aim to spread fear and division among the populace.

As the security forces remain resolute in their mission to maintain law and order, the successful air strikes in Anambra and Imo States serve as a reminder of their determination to protect innocent lives and preserve national unity.
