The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is seeking a strategic partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to bolster the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing in Nigeria. The initiative was proposed during a courtesy visit by the NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, and his team to the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja. Mr. Maikyau emphasized that the NBA’s ongoing and planned activities align with the ICPC’s mandate and sought the Commission’s support in implementing anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures as outlined in the Association’s Professional Conduct rules.

During the visit, Mr. Maikyau detailed the NBA’s efforts and initiatives related to combating financial crimes and terrorism financing. He highlighted the Association’s commitment to ensuring that its members are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and tackle these issues effectively.
