NCAA offers support after NAF crash

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has expressed concern over the crash of a Nigerian Air Force aircraft at Igbokoda in Ondo State, pledging technical support for ongoing national emergency response efforts.

The NAF NGR931 aircraft crashed on Monday, October 5, 2026, with approximately 32 people on board, according to the NCAA.

In a statement signed by its Director-General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, the authority expressed sadness over the incident and extended its thoughts and prayers to the Nigeria Air Force personnel, occupants of the aircraft, their families and others affected by the crash.

The NCAA clarified that military aviation operations fall outside its regulatory oversight and operational mandate. However, it said the authority remained committed to supporting the national response to the incident.

“Accordingly, the NCAA stands ready to provide such technical expertise and assistance as may be required to support the ongoing search and rescue operations,” the statement said.

The aviation regulator added that it was closely monitoring developments and would continue to cooperate with relevant government authorities and agencies in line with established national emergency response protocols.

The NCAA also expressed solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force and all those affected by the incident, while hoping for a positive outcome from the ongoing response efforts.

“We remain hopeful for a positive outcome and pray for the safety and successful rescue of all involved,” Najomo said.
