The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has announced a N5 million cash reward for credible information leading to the recapture of seven inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, NCoS spokesperson Umar Abubakar said the public’s assistance is vital in locating the fugitives, assuring that all tips will be handled with strict confidentiality.
“The Nigerian Correctional Service wishes to inform the general public that a reward of N5 million is being offered to anyone who provides useful information that leads to the recapture of the fleeing inmates,” the statement read.

The inmates escaped in the early hours of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, after heavy rainfall compromised the facility’s security. An intensive manhunt is currently underway.
