Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Adamawa State Command, have arrested a 30-year-old man, Samson Raymond, over the alleged cultivation of cannabis in Modire Community, Yolde Pate, Yola South Local Government Area.
Confirming the report, Media Team of NDLEA Adamawa State Command ASN Abner Yusha said the arrest was carried out by the NDLEA Municipal Area Command following credible intelligence on the suspected cultivation of Cannabis sativa at the suspect’s residence.
According to the Command, operatives recovered and harvested fresh plants suspected to be cannabis from the premises during the operation.
Further investigation led the operatives to a farm reportedly located along the riverside in Modire Community, where additional fresh plants suspected to be Cannabis sativa were discovered and harvested.
The total quantity of the fresh plants recovered was put at 28 kilogrammes.
The NDLEA said the operation forms part of its sustained efforts to disrupt cannabis cultivation and illicit drug trafficking while protecting communities from the harmful consequences of drug abuse.
The agency reiterated its commitment to intelligence-led operations against the cultivation, production, trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs across Adamawa State.
