NEMA leads swift multi-agency response to fire outbreak in Abuja 

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Tuesday coordinated a rapid emergency response to a fire outbreak at a restaurant located near the Federal Ministry of Power headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

According to the agency, its Abuja Operations Office received a distress alert at about 2:36 p.m., prompting the immediate activation of emergency response protocols. NEMA mobilised key stakeholders, including the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service, while deploying search-and-rescue and response teams to the scene.

Additional personnel from NEMA headquarters were dispatched to reinforce ongoing operations and support the Abuja Operations Office.

Emergency responders worked in close coordination to assist firefighting efforts, secure the affected area, and prevent the blaze from spreading to adjoining buildings.

The fire was eventually contained through the combined efforts of the agencies, with response operations concluded at approximately 5:45 p.m. No immediate details were provided regarding casualties or the extent of property damage.
