NEMA provides humanitarian aid to fire victims in Kaura-Namoda

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered humanitarian relief materials to victims of a recent fire outbreak at a Qur’anic school in Kaura-Namoda, Zamfara State.

The Head of Operations at NEMA’s Sokoto Office, Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi, presented the relief items on behalf of the Director General to support the state and local governments’ response efforts. The aid package includes food supplies such as rice, maize, and vegetable oil, as well as non-food essentials like detergents and medical supplies for affected individuals.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Kafindangi emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to assisting victims in their recovery. The relief materials were received by key state and local officials, including the Executive Secretary of ZEMA, represented by Director of Disaster Control Hassan Usman Dauran, and the Emir of Kaura-Namoda, His Royal Highness Alh. Sanusi Muhammad Asha. Other dignitaries included representatives from the Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Council.

Prior to the distribution, the NEMA delegation, alongside stakeholders from ZEMA, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and local government officials, visited the Emir’s palace to formally inform him of the relief effort. They also visited victims receiving treatment at the Khadijah Women and Children Welfare Clinic and assessed the fire-damaged site.

In response to the incident, the state government and the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Council have established an Emergency Response Committee to oversee the equitable and transparent distribution of aid. The Emir pledged to monitor the process to ensure fair allocation among the affected community.
