The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other stakeholders welcomed 103 Nigerian deportees from Turkey at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The deportees arrived on a Southwind Airlines flight TCGRB, which landed around 7 PM, and were received at the airport’s pilgrims wing by Federal Government officials, led by NEMA.
Addressing the returnees, NEMA Director General Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by Director of the North Central Zone Alhaji Bashir Idris Garga, encouraged them to view their experiences positively and remain law-abiding. She assured them of the Federal Government’s concern for their well-being and announced that financial assistance was provided to facilitate their transportation to their respective destinations.

Other officials present included representatives from the Nigerian Immigration Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NDLEA, Port Health Authority, and National Intelligence Agency.
Upon arrival, the deportees underwent health screenings, received meals, and were profiled by NEMA and NCFRMI. They were then cleared by the Nigerian Immigration Service and given transportation support from NEMA.
Several deportees expressed their dissatisfaction with the deportation but appreciated the Federal Government for the warm reception.
