The Federal Republic of Nigeria has expressed its profound condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of India following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, which resulted in the loss of over 290 lives.
In a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Government of Nigeria described the incident as a devastating tragedy and conveyed its deep sympathy and solidarity with India during this time of national mourning.
Although no Nigerian nationals have been confirmed among the victims, the Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi remains in close contact with Indian authorities to verify the passenger manifest and provide consular assistance if necessary.
Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to global aviation safety and expressed support for a comprehensive investigation into the incident, with a view to preventing future occurrences.
The Government of Nigeria extends its deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
