The Federal Government of Nigeria has concluded arrangements for the emergency evacuation of stranded Nigerian citizens in Israel and Iran, following the escalating conflict between the two countries marked by persistent bombings.
In a statement released Wednesday and signed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the government announced that it is working closely with Nigerian Missions in Tel Aviv and Tehran to facilitate the safe evacuation of affected nationals.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that, following the escalation of the crisis between the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Government is finalizing arrangements for the emergency evacuation of stranded Nigerians in both countries,” the statement read.
Nigerians in the affected areas have been urged to observe local security protocols and immediately contact the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for registration and further instructions.
The Ministry commended the dedication of the Nigerian Missions in Israel and Iran for their proactive engagement with the Nigerian communities under challenging circumstances.
Reaffirming its commitment to the safety and welfare of its citizens, the government assured the public that it is coordinating with relevant international partners and local authorities to ensure a safe and timely evacuation.
The statement also reiterated Nigeria’s call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, urging all parties to embrace dialogue, uphold international humanitarian law, and protect civilian lives.
“Nigeria stands firm in support of peaceful conflict resolution and reaffirms its longstanding commitment to regional and global peace and stability,” the Ministry stated.
Further updates will be provided through official channels as the evacuation efforts progress.
