Nigeria and Namibia are taking steps to enhance their bilateral relations, with Namibia expressing interest in learning from Nigeria’s Technical Aid Corps (TAC) and renewing commitments under the Nigeria-Namibia Joint Commission of Cooperation.
In a recent meeting between Namibian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Humphrey Geiseb, and the Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, in Abuja, discussions focused on deepening collaboration. Ambassador Geiseb highlighted the significant role Nigeria played in Namibia’s independence and subsequent development, particularly through the TAC Scheme. He praised the program for contributing to Namibia’s pool of skilled professionals, especially in the health and education sectors.
The High Commissioner emphasized the need for a new session of the Nigeria-Namibia Joint Commission of Cooperation, which last convened 14 years ago, to further solidify bilateral ties.

He also expressed interest in adopting best practices from Nigeria’s TAC operations to address Namibia’s current technical needs.
In response, TAC DG Yusuf Buba Yakub reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to providing technical assistance to African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries. He assured that Nigeria would support Namibia’s requests for expertise and announced plans to discuss the renewal of the Joint Commission with Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister.
Key officials from the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps and the Namibian High Commission attended the meeting, underscoring the significance of the discussions in fostering closer cooperation between the two nations.
