President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to democracy and the constitutional guarantee of religious freedom, stressing that the nation stands firmly against all forms of religious intolerance or persecution.
In a statement issued on Saturday, President Tinubu emphasized that since 2023, his administration has maintained open and active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders, while addressing security challenges affecting citizens across all faiths and regions.
“The characterization of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality,” the President stated, noting that the government has consistently demonstrated sincerity in safeguarding freedom of religion and belief for all Nigerians.
He described religious tolerance as a “core tenet of Nigeria’s collective identity,” assuring that it will remain a guiding principle of national unity.
President Tinubu further reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate with the United States government and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation on the protection of communities of all faiths.
