Nigerian Army addresses fraudulent recruitment attempt in ongoing 86 regular recruits’ intake

The Nigerian Army (NA) has taken cognizance of a circulating video on social media capturing the arrest of fraudulent candidates involved in attempts to manipulate the ongoing 86 Regular Recruits Intake. These individuals were apprehended for their efforts to deceive and short-change legitimate candidates from Lagos State through dubious means.

In response, the NA wishes to clarify that the arrest of these fraudulent candidates underscores its commitment to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process, aligned with the core values of integrity and fairness. The video serves as a testament to the stringent measures in place, ensuring that only authentic indigenes of a specific state are recruited, utilizing allocated slots for that particular state and not for non-indigenous individuals.

The video reveals a transparent process, showcasing the involvement of the State Representative, a prominent member of the recruitment team. The State Representative, tasked with scrutinizing candidates’ state of origin, plays a crucial role in verifying the genuineness of their indigeneship claims. This process is replicated across other states in the Federation, emphasizing the commitment to fairness and transparency.

The NA strongly condemns the fraudulent activities perpetrated by the three candidates attempting to secure positions designated for Lagos State indigenes. This act is deemed a severe breach of the recruitment process and will not be tolerated.

To address this issue comprehensively, the NA will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the extent of fraudulent activities and identify any individuals or syndicates involved. The culprits will be handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency as the NA remains steadfast in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice prevails.

The NA affirms its dedication to collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure accountability for those responsible. It encourages prospective candidates to uphold principles of honesty and integrity during the recruitment process, emphasizing that any attempt to manipulate the system will face legal consequences.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, expressed gratitude for the public’s support and cooperation as the NA works diligently to preserve the integrity of its recruitment process. The Army remains resolute in its mission to recruit the best and most deserving individuals to serve the nation.
