Depot Nigerian Army rebuts false allegations regarding leadership’s priorities

In response to recent misleading reports circulating in certain online media outlets, Depot Nigerian Army (NA) has moved to address what it terms as a baseless publication aimed at undermining the leadership of Depot NA.

In a statement, Assistant Director Army Public Relations Depot Nigerian Army Captain Kela Babale said the institution has expressed regret over the dissemination of unbalanced and misleading information, asserting that such reports reflect ill intentions of certain online media sources to demoralize recruits and soldiers through unfounded claims.

The contentious report alleged that the Commandant of Depot NA prioritizes the welfare of cattle over that of soldiers, insinuating a lack of concern for the well-being of personnel. Depot NA has vehemently refuted these claims, emphasizing the institution’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel and seeking to provide clarity on the matter.

Captain Kela Babale said contrary to the false narrative, Depot NA, a revered training institution responsible for transforming civilians into professional soldiers, clarified that the stocking of food supplies and livestock is necessitated by prevailing economic challenges and surges in commodity prices. This measure is crucial for sustaining the nutritional needs of recruits undergoing training at the institution.

Highlighting the importance of maintaining nutrition standards for recruits, Depot NA underscored the meticulous management of food supplies and livestock to ensure a balanced diet for trainees. The institution also extended similar considerations to trainers through the Barracks Investment and Initiative program, facilitating affordable livestock and irrigation farming within designated areas of the cantonment to benefit all personnel.

Depot NA urged the public to disregard any misinformation regarding the feeding and welfare of recruits and soldiers, dismissing such reports as calculated efforts by mischief-makers to cause distraction and disharmony within the institution. The institution emphasized that the unfounded report is a gross misrepresentation, aimed at undermining positive initiatives and plans for personnel associated with Depot NA.

Reaffirming the Commandant’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of both trainees and trainers, Depot NA assured the public of its dedication to the well-being and development of all individuals associated with the institution.
